The Museum Marmottan Monet presents,
from February 23rd to July 2nd 2017,
the first exhibition Camille
Pissarro organized in Paris in the past 36 years.
Some seventy-five of his masterpieces, paintings and temperas, from the largest museums of the world and of prestigious private
collections, trace the work of Camille Pissarro, of his youth in the Danish
Caribbean’s to large urban series from Paris, Rouen and Le Havre from the end
of his life. Considered “the First of the Impressionists” by Cézanne,
Pissarro is one of the founders of this group.
He is also the only one to
participate in their eight exhibitions. Companion and faithful friend of Claude
Monet, master of Cézanne and Gauguin, inspiring Seurat, defending Signac,
Pissarro is a major artist.
Multilingual, committed intellectual and activist,
listening to the young generations, his powerful and constantly evolving work
offers a unique panorama of the research that led the circles of
Impressionist and Postimpressionists of the second half of the nineteenth
century.

Paris and the river Seine
Enjoy in Paris a lot of places where you can
enjoy the view from the river Seine:
· On or under one of the 32 bridges of the Capital

A one hour cruise on the famous “bateau-mouche”
·
On the banks of the river left or right or in
between: on the island of the city where is situated Notre-Dame or the island
Saint Louis where is situated the famous Bertillon ice-cream.
Don’t worry you won’t be in
that situation like on this picture: it was in June 2016 and the river has
reached a very high level. Many buildings like the Louvre had to close but it
was not as high as in 1910 and no museum where flooded!!
